Machineboy

I found my 2D hand drawn cartoon from my bacherlor studies on an old DVD at work. It was finished in 2000.

I remember spending so much time on the bloody thing, and regretting that I didn’t spend a few more weeks on character design and storyboarding. When it was done I had the 1000 drawings in a cardboard box and wondered if I should keep them. I ended up leaving them in the apartment I rented. I’m pretty sure this will be my first and last hand drawn short, it was just shitloads of work!

The short was hand drawn on A4 and then inbetweened and traced. The backgrounds were painted with water colours on aquarel paper and the drawings were scanned and coloured in Softimage Toonz. I did the music and a friend (Danh) did the voices and grunts.
